Where Can You Learn Ecommerce SEO Without Hiring Anyone?

Everything we publish is free, ungated and written so a store owner can act on it without an agency. No email required, no download form, no locked chapters.

Most agency content exists to make you feel out of your depth so you book a call. Ours exists to be useful, which turns out to be the better sales argument anyway.

If you read a guide, do the work yourself and never speak to us, the guide did its job. If you read it and decide the work is bigger than your available time, you will already know how we think before the first call.

What Do We Write About?

Four subjects: getting stores found in ordinary search, getting stores named in AI answers, the technical problems specific to product catalogues, and how to judge an agency.

The fourth subject is unusual for an agency to publish. We write it because the main reason store owners avoid hiring is a bad previous experience, and the fastest way to reduce that is to make people better buyers.

SubjectWhat it coversWho it is for
Getting found in searchCollection pages, product pages, keyword and question research, internal linking, content plans.Anyone running a store, at any size.
Getting named in AI answersHow AEO and GEO work, what AI tools read, how to check whether your brand appears, what to fix first.Stores watching traffic fall while rankings hold.
Catalogue technical problemsFilters, duplicate products, indexing, page speed, product data, migrations.Stores above a few hundred products, and anyone with a developer.
Judging an agencyWhat to ask, what a real audit looks like, what promises to walk away from, what things should cost.Anyone about to spend money on this.

Which Guides Should You Read First?

Start with the one that matches your situation. Here are the five we point people to most often.

Each one is written to stand alone. You do not have to read them in order and none of them ends with a sales pitch.

The ecommerce SEO checklist.
Everything we would check on a store, in the order we would check it. Start here if you do not know where you stand.
The plain words explanation of how getting quoted by AI tools works. Start here if your rankings are steady and your traffic is falling.
Where the two disciplines overlap, where they differ, and how to split a budget between them. Start here if you have to justify a spend to someone else.
The same comparison for generative engine optimization, which is the brand level side of the same problem.
How to turn a list of findings into a twelve month plan. Start here if you already know what is wrong.

How Do We Decide What to Write?

We write about the questions store owners actually ask us, plus the questions AI tools are being asked about our subject and answering badly.

The first source is the client inbox. Every question that comes up more than twice becomes a guide, because if two clients asked it, several hundred store owners are searching for it.

The second source is more unusual. We regularly ask AI tools the questions our buyers ask and read the answers critically. Where an answer is thin, wrong or ignores online stores completely, that is a gap worth filling. It is also, practically speaking, a gap where a good page has a strong chance of becoming the source the answer is rebuilt from.

What we do not do is publish for volume. A store does not need forty shallow posts, and neither does a search engine.

What Are We Publishing Next?

The plan for the next quarter is public. If something on it would help you sooner, tell us and we will move it up.

Publishing the plan keeps us honest about actually shipping it, and it tells you what kind of depth to expect.

  • How to check whether ChatGPT and Perplexity can actually reach your store, with the exact settings to look at.
  • Rebuilding a collection page, with a full before and after of the copy and the structure.
  • What to do in the ninety days before a platform migration.
  • How to write a product description that a machine can quote and a human wants to read.
  • The questions to ask an agency before you sign, with the answers that should make you walk away.

How Do You Get New Guides When They Are Published?

One email when something new is published, and nothing else. No weekly newsletter, no sequence, no offers.

We publish roughly twice a month, so that is roughly two emails a month. Each one is a link and a sentence explaining who the guide is for.

If you would rather not give an email address, the guides are all on this page anyway and always will be.
